Chemical-free surface prep on a stainless weld line
Who: a stainless kitchen equipment fabricator that cleans weld seams before brushing and passivation. Machine: Xinhong pulse laser cleaning machine for weld seam and surface treatment. Problem it solved: weld discolouration on 304 seams was removed with a chemical pickling paste, which meant handling acid, rinse water and a waiting time before the next step. Before: pickling paste was applied by hand and the rinse water had to be treated as chemical waste. Now: the oxide layer on the seam is removed by the pulse cleaning parameters, and the seam goes to the brush finish without the acid step. Where the numbers come from: the pulse cleaning product specification plus the fabricator's own process sheet; whether the end customer still requires passivation remains their specification, and chemical consumption figures must be taken from the plant's own waste records.
Application based on customer feedback; individual results depend on materials and production conditions.
