Bottled nitrogen replaced by on-site PSA generation on a stainless cutting line
Who: a precision sheet metal workshop in Europe that runs stainless production on a fiber laser cutting line. Machine: Xinhong PSA nitrogen generator supplying the cutting line's assist-gas manifold. Problem it solved: the line depended on delivered cylinder banks, so gas cost was a line item per delivery and cutting stopped when a bank ran out mid-shift. Before: cylinders were ordered, stored and switched manually, and the gas cost per part could not be separated from other consumables. Now: nitrogen is generated on site at 99.9% purity, 10-80 m3/h flow and 0.6-0.8 MPa, so the line draws from its own supply. Where the numbers come from: the PSA generator specification sheet plus the workshop's gas invoices before the change; any payback period depends on the plant's electricity tariff and cutting hours and is confirmed with a quotation-based calculation, not published as a fixed figure.
Application based on customer feedback; individual results depend on materials and production conditions.
