Sheet metal fabricator: 3 kW sized against a real 6-12 mm gauge mix
Who: a general sheet metal fabricator in Western Europe, about 15 staff, quoting mostly 6-12 mm carbon steel brackets with occasional 6-8 mm stainless. Machine: Xinhong 3000W fiber laser cutting machine, 1500x3000mm bed. Problem it solved: the shop was deciding between a 2 kW and a 6 kW machine and feared both overbuying and undershooting. Before: 12 mm carbon steel jobs sent outside; stainless limited by the old machine. Now: carbon steel to 12 mm and stainless to 8 mm cut in-house at +/-0.05 mm. Where the numbers come from: the 3000W product specification (CS to 12 mm, SS to 8 mm, +/-0.05 mm, 50000+ hour tube life) and the buyer's own sample cuts on their 10 mm and 12 mm brackets; the buying decision was based on the measured gauge mix, not a wattage headline.
